Ferry to Ile des Pins

We are planning to go to New Caledonia in February and we have booked accommodation to stay at Oure Lodge on Ile des Pins. I am trying to book the ferry Betico to and from IDP but without much success. Does anyone know how this can be done from outside New Caledonia? - I tried to email but got no response - is it advisable to book ahead? Thanks.

Sadly no-one on TT has been able to book over the internet. I suggest that you email or better yet phone the tourism bureau at http://www.newcaledoniatourism-south.com/contact/index.cfm. Ypu couls also get the people at Ore Lodge to do this for you.

We went to the IDP last year and all the bookings - transfers, air trip one way, ferry home and transfers to hotel and booking onthe island were done through Alpha International, I think their Email is alphamat@canl.nc frommemory they were slow to reply, but everything worked like clockwork even being met in the rain and dark off the Betico.

I really don't think you need to worry about booking in advance.

I went during a local holiday, and it was still no problem to get a ticket the same day, just before departure.

Thanks everyone - we have decided to fly as we have 2 small children and are worried about sea sickness - we had a very helpful reply from the http://www.newcaledoniatourism-south.com/contact/index.cfm link however and we were put on to a lady called Susan Lelo from center tours in Noumea who was very helpful and could have booked the ferry for us - email is centertours@cvoyages.nc
