Guided tour operators in Noumea

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / New Caledonia

Hi everyone,

I'm about to visit Grand Terre in New Caledonia for a quick break (three nights). I'd like to get away from Noumea for a day, but I don't want to hire a car, so I'm looking for a guided tour. There seems to be lots of tour operators to choose from and I'm a bit daunted.

Ideally I want to get well away from the city, see some rugged/dramatic scenery, and hopefully have a swim (either at a beach or in a river/lake). I'm young and active so I wouldn't mind a hike or a bike ride, either.

Any suggestions for tours or tour operators would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

Dan

Hi Dan,
Try the Arc en Ciel web site (www.arcenciel-voyages.nc) there may be something there that interests you.
We have used Arc en Ciel for various reasons on many occasions & have found them most reliable.

Great, thanks for the advice!

Were the Arc en Ciel tours you went on narrated in English or French?

Hi Again Dan,
We speak enough French to get us out of trouble, but when it got a little difficult, we found that most of the drivers have a good grasp of English & used it.
We've found Arc en Ceil most helpful over the years - we've used them for a couple of tours, airport transfers & they've even stored our luggage for us, in their office down town when we've had a wait between domestic & international flights.

Thanks so much.

I've spoken to Arc en Ciel and many of their tours are fully booked (I'll be in Noumea in three weeks' time). My advice for others is to book well in advance!

Hi Dan,
Have you tried "Noumea Discovery Tours"?
www.noumeadiscovery.com
We haven't used them, but their web site is impressive.
