| johnbrighton03:14 UTC11 Sep 2009 | The Y.H. in Noumea is a great place to stay, pity the warden's such an obnoxious git.A dorm. bed costs CFP1,600 with a YH card,200 more without.New E-mail address is YHA.noumea@mls.nc A lot of camp-sites are a long way from the main road & bus routes, plus,in June, they were flooded due to heavy rains. Other accomodation includes : - Ecotel in Tontouta, only a 15 minute walk to airport terminal,CFP6,650/8,650 sing/doub with one of N.C.'s best value restaurants. In Bourail hotel/restaurant Le Relais Gourmand (opposite market,100 yards north of bus stop) has A/C rooms CFP4,950/5,450/5,950 sing/doub/triple,but a dear restaurant. Relais Alison in Touho charges CFP2,300 per person, rooms are OK,but no H/W & restaurant is fairly good. An 8 - pack of 330ml Number One beers,5%,from a S.M. = CFP1,000. Banks exchange Euros with no commission, but other currencies exact a huge fee.
