| alanarita10:22 UTC03 Jun 2007 | Hi all I am planning a trip to New Caledonia with my boyfriend for early next year (late February). Can anyone tell me if this is a good schedule for a couple wanting a romantic, fairly relaxed holiday, but also doing a little bit of sightseeing. 3 nights in Noumea @ Ramada Plaza 2 nights on Isle of Pines @ Oure Lodge ...and we're wanting to hire a care for 2 days and do some driving. Should we just do day driving trips and come back to Noumea, or should we stay somewhere for a night? Any advice re accommodation or things we should do would be great! Thank you:) Alana

As for the driving, the main attraction in rural Grande Terre is the beautiful North-East coast. It's quite a long drive from Noumea, and an overnight stay at Hienghéne would be highly recommended. There's a good range of accomodation there ranging from camp sites to Club Med!

I agree with Laszlo re Highengene - it is gorgeous. Do stay at the Club Med - It is a Club Med "village" ie its much cheaper and more laid-back than other Club Meds plus food is NOT compulsory there. 1 night is not enough there 2-3 is the minimum. Check it out here - koulnoue
