One Night in New Caledonia

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / New Caledonia

I'll be spending 2 weeks in Vanuatu. On my way back to Japan, I have to spend one night in New Caledonia waiting for my connecting flight (I land at 7pm and depart 12pm the following day).

I need a cheap or reasonably cheap hotel close to the Noumea airport (or, one with relatively cheap transfers)

Any advice?

Thank you

JT

The only hotel close to the airport is Tontoutel Hotel. It is probably a 5-10 minute walk from the terminal. There are a few shops nearby. We stayed there last year as we had an early morning flight. It was an okay place to stay - has a pool and restaurant(expensive). We booked it while we were there. - reasonable price by New Caledonia standards.

Hi JT

I you decide to stay in central noumea (around 50 km) south of the Internation airport you can take a bus to and from for 400 FPF. (4-5$US)

If you want further info i may be able to dig out a timetable for you.

This would give you a brief chance to see Noumea.

I recently stayed in Central noumea in the Best Western called Hotel le Paris on rue de Sebastopel. for 10500FPF. This is an easy walk to the bus station.

#1 is correct , though there are others not far from the airport but they are all dull, especially since you have 17 hours to kill !! Head into Noumea !!

JT, may I ask how much you're paying for the flights? Thanks.
