Where to go in NC - Romantic Holiday

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / New Caledonia

Hi

Me and my girlfriend are going to NC for two weeks in July and wanted some advice about where to go.

We are looking to chill out on a beach for two weeks, somewhere not overly touristy, somewhere picturesque and romantic would be nice.

Thanks for any advice you can offer

If you really want somewhere scenic and not too touristy, look into Hienghiene on the NE coast of Grande Terre. It has one upmarket resort, otherwise only very simple, Kanak-run options.

If your priority is a better beach and don't mind more tourists, the Isle of Pines or the Loyalty Islands are for you.

Ile de Pins would be a good choice. It has beautiful long beaches where you can be the only ones around. A piroque boat trip on Baie D'upi gives you great scenery with a trek at the end which takes you to the Piscine Naturalle where the snorkeling is amazing. There is a nice hike to Pic N'ga with great sea views from the top. There is a wide range of accommodations to choose from. We found you really needed some French as English is not used by many in the tourism areas.
