YHA and other Hostels in Noumea

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / New Caledonia

YHA have a hostel listed for Noumea. I am looking for information or contact with anyone who may have recently stayed there.
Any review, reports of it or other budget accommodation in Noumea would be appreciated.
Do Caravan parks with on site cabins exist in New Caledonia like we have in Australia?

Is it better to stay in Anse Varta or Baie de Citrons if snorkelling off the beach ?

I'm sorry I can't help with the youth hostel information but we stayed at Marina Beach Motel about a 2 minute walk from Baie de Citron. It cost around 8000CPF for a studio with kitchenette. Basic but in a good area with a small grocery store and several restaurants nearby - bus stop just down the street. We did not snorkle either Baie de Citron or Anse Vata as the weather was cold and very windy. We did take a water taxi to Ilot Maitre one day to snorkle. Did not see anything similar to a caravan park. Hope this helps.

The Noumea YHA is fantastic - the best I have come across anywhere!!!
I have some info on it here.
It is the ONLÍY budget place in Noumea!

No caravan parks in NC, there are campsites but they are for those bringing their own tents.

Both are great places and they are virtually next to each other. Neither is any good for snorkelling, but Duck Is off Anse Vata is fun and you can snorkle there.
