10 days in Palau

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

Hi,

we are going to Palau for 10 days. Can you recommend quiet and less expensive accomodation, professional dive operators (small groups, good equipment, experienced guides) and other activities to do.

We will fly via Guam. Good hints how to spend 12 hrs there are also appreciated!

Thank you in advance!

There are a number of budget lodgings in Koror. Go to the Palau Visitors Authority web site [www.visit-palau.com/] and look at what is available. All major dive operators will pick you up and return you to your lodging as part of the service. People swear by their favorites, with Sam's Tours, Fish & Fins and Necco Marine leading the pack. All have great web sites, take a look and figure out which fits your individual needs.

Your post does not indicate where you are coming from, If it is the States you will probably want to sleep away your 12 hours in Guam. Some dive operators have German, Japanese, Taiwanese language fluent captains, so that may influence your choice of a dive operator.

Other activities are far ranging, you can visit some of the outer islands or take a land tour of Babeldaob. Several museums, the Etpison (sp) museum is quite interesting, many good restaurants, surfing, fishing, all are within reach and fairly reasonable. I know a good guidebook with lots of ideas, if you read English.

I was also going to suggest sleeping in guam.

Do go to Jellyfish lake- an astonishing experience. And go see the quarries where the Stone Money that went to Yap came from. And the WWI relics on Peliliu. Have a wonderful trip!
