can anyone please help me?

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

hi! im from the philippines, im planning to give my boyfriend a surprise birthday trip to palau on dec1-7 this year. where can we possibly stay that's somewhere decent and somewhat a romantic area? im also planning to give him a surprise arranged room. like candles, rose petals on the floor, bed, toilet with a birthday cake and wine on the bed. can anyone please help me? please..im running out of time. i am looking for a nice hotel with about $15 a night. is the rate too cheap for a nice romantic place to live in? and also, i was reading the review awhile ago, is it true that Asian Spirit airline doesnt fly there anymore? what airline should we take from Manila to Palau? i need to buy the tickets as early as possible to get a cheaper rate. i would really appreciate it if anyone can help me out with this. thank you :)

The only airline between Manila and Palau is Continental.

I'm curious, are there nice romantic places to stay in the Phillipines for $15 a night or did you mean $150?

If you meant $15 a night then consider another country, perhaps Thailand or Indonesia (though I don't know how nice a place $15 will buy there). A very basic double in Palau is about $50.

I agree with Silvanocat and hope the $15.00 a night was an error. The Carp Island Resort might be of interest, located in the middle of the Rock Islands. Rates are around $100.00 per night for a secluded beachfront cottage. They provide transport from Koror on their boat. You can pick up the wine candles and birthday cake in Koror before you leave at the WCTC shopping center. Don't know about those rose petals, must say my extensive research on my book excluded rose petals. Asian Spirit Airlines is no longer, so Continental is my only known source to getting to Palau and fares are not cheap. If your room budget was not an error, you may want to contact one of the dive operators and have them drop you off at one of the Rock Islands to camp out for a few days. Take along toilet paper and mosquito repellant along with those rose petals. Have a great trip!

Greetings,
In regards to airlines flying from PI to Palau, there is a a new one starting the end of this month Jan 2010 called Pacific Flier that will be having direct flights from Clark Airport there in Luzon direct to Palau. Their website is down at the moment but it's pacificflier.com Rates are sure to be in competition with Continental Airlines. Please do in contact with Sam's Tours www.samstours.com info@samstours.com located in Palau for great deals on hotel/tour packages. Oh and you may be able to find actual real rose pedals at Sun's Flower Shop on Lebuu Street in Palau. Have a great trip if you decide on Palau.
You may also want to check with Blue Horizon Travel there in Manila for reasonable airfares on Continental Airlines Manila to Palau R/T.

Hello Again,
The GSA for Pacific Flier Airline in Manila is Super Sonic Services and their web site http://www.supersonicservices.com.ph/
I did not see Pacific Flier listed on their website so they are probably still preparing for the launch.
In regards to hotel rooms in Koror Palau, the cheapest I have seen is $25 a night at a place called Palau Marine Club that is located in Malakal on the waterfront.
Regards,
