Getting around on Palau: costs?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau
Hi Everybody, we want to go to Palau in October and travel around there. How easy is it to get around without any room bookings in advance? What is the average price per night for a moderate accomodation, for food and travelling? We are not expecting that it is as cheap as in Thailand, for example, but we need a small overview what we have probably to spend for the trip. And: does anyone know a pricy connection from Europe to Palau by plane? I am very happy about any tipps! :) Mara
Was there in 2009. Korror you are looking at an average room $50.00 USD food is definitely not as cheap as Asia but probably some of the best food I ever had was at Kramers and a dinner would be about $10.00 USD not including drinks. I was there in Feb. and didn't book any accommodation a head of time, I had no problems. I don't know your spending habits but my girlfriend and I were spending about $120.00 USD a day vs most of Asia $40.00 Best flight was out of Manila with Continental at that time. Hope it helps! | 1
It has been a while since my two month visit and publication of my book, but the costs discussed by drabs 110 are close to what I spent. Cabs are very inexpensive and cheaper around Koror than renting a car. Prices are slightly less if you take the ferry to Peleliu or Angaur. No need for advance reservations on either island. Have a good trip. Papa Mike | 2
Thanks for your answers! You helped us a lot! Have you any experiences with diving centers? We made our open water diver 2 years ago, so we are still quite fresh in that field and need good guidance. we would strongly prefer diving centers with small diving groups because I recently read a thread in which people criticized that there are too many people on the boat (don“t remember which center it was). And: any insider tipps what we should absolutely visit? | 3
Uh Papa mike I read your book it was very helpful to us. Good Job! | 4
