I was looking to see how difficult it is for a US citizen to move to Palau. Is it possible, is there a lot of legal paperwork? Does it involve a large deposit in a local bank? Can I work legally? Any information or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Most USians moving to Palau have a job in advance. And then it is a piece of cake. It is rather difficult to get a job there unless you have some specific skills. The local wages are quite low and prices high. And I'm not sure what the current laws are on just turning up and getting a job. What are you thinking of doing there? | 1
Hey 5waldos, thanks for the response. Basically I'm retired, young 50's and looking to move somewhere overseas. My main question is it easy or hard to move there as a US citizen. I know they used to be a US territory but no longer. I can't find any info on the Palau web sites. Work is not a big deal although I like to stay busy so it's not really an issue though it would be nice to be able to. Can I just get over to Palau and if I like it stay? Any help is appreciated. | 2

Hello, I am a U.S citizen and i am moving to Palau as well. I would like to know more about this matter | 4
It was very difficult for me to find any decent information for relocating and I did a lot of checking. From what I can tell a year is about all one can do and forget about work. I finally gave up plus I was a little worried about Island fever. Good luck. | 5
Did any of you actually make the move? Curious how its working out... Thanks | 6
Island fever- the fever one gets when one has been off island long enough. I have Island feve. If I don't get back soon I shall swoon. And faint dead away. | 7
I can't get any information on this place... Dive operators and "kayak tour-ers" - only one response thus far (lame tour) A number of feelers out to blogger, Peace Corp volunteer. I can't believe only option is US50 dollar hotel or a bunch of crappy houses that locals will glady free up for US100 a night. Looking to rent a kayak and do about two weeks in Rock Islands, potentially a move there as well. Still fishing for real info. | 8
I lived there for 3 years. You have to understand about island time. going down there angry is not the way to go. One does not live in the rock islands But- it has been a number of years since i lived there. | 9
