Palau in june

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

Thinking of heading down to Palau from June 1 - June 9 to scuba dive. Can anyone tell me how the weather is? Googled it and it shows it as rainy cloudy or thunderstorms

Someone told me that purposely publish it that way as there's always a shower during the day but is sunny otherwise. Can someone confirm if this is the case? Thanks

Also how is the diving in early June? What can you see during this period?

Thanks

The weather in June is the same as the weather every other time of the year... Sunny most of the time with hard rain others. Typically there will be a number of sunny days followed a couple (or many) with rain. The weather forecasts are useless - I wouldnt base anything off of them. if you are going for over a week there will most likely be some sunny days and a few rainy ones (where it will rain for an hour or two... rarely does it rain all day).

As for the diving - what is out there is more reliant on the moon - dive around the full moon and your more likely to see schooling of all sorts.

Agree with the above post - the weather on the surface does not seem to have much effect on the diving which is more influenced by currents. I've been there in August, November & January. To be fair, the weather may-oct can be a bit more unsettled than in the other months and you tend to get more manta rays in the Nov-April period, but other than that, there is still great diving in June.

Neco Marine's web site tells you what to expect at different times of the year:

Agree- the weather, which used to have some vague pattern throughout the year, no longer really does. The islanders blame it on global warming. The one thing to try and avoid is when the coral is spawning- murky seas. But I have no memory whatsoever of then that happens.
