Palau: Transport from/to Philippines

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

I'm looking for information on flights or sea travel from Philippines to Palau, and probably return.
-
So far, I've only been able to find Continental. Did Pacific Flier resume flights? ...any other airline start up flights?
-
Maybe someone in/familiar with Mindanao or Palau knows of sea transport plying this route end of July to late August (2011).

Thanks.

Continental is basically your only choice.

No other airline trying to serve that route lasted long, and there's no "sea travel" worth talking about.

There was a similar thread sometime ago and the conclusion was that Continental Airlines was the best option and almost the only one realistic for flights. Sadly, I don't remember if the sea option was discussed there. Perhaps, if you do a forum search, you can find some info about it.

Every once n a while another company comes in and flies for a while. But realistically- It is Air Mike as Continental is known in the islands.

I don't know of any sea options. There never has been and I would seriously doubt that there are any ships out there taking passengers. Would be nice.

No sea options especially now since it is typoon season. Coming from PI, COntinental is your only choice.. other options are available from GUam, Tokyo, Taipei and Korea, but from Phillipines, It is only continental. They are currently running a special for less than $600 round trip that includes two days hotel. call up continental in manila..it's a really good deal- ususally almost $800 without hotel..

Thanks for the responses, everybody.

Cameroonlion, I'll be in Manila tomorrow and will check out that special fare. I may have to abandon the excursion to Palau for now, though: I broke my arm the other day, and I won't know what sort of travel I'll be able to do until after I have the arm checked out further.

:-( Oh dear- for sorry to her that- what can be worse than having an accident when traveling!

I bet they won't care much at all.
Especially when you have such an obvious excuse to do so.

dying... comes to mind first, 5Waldos. And then as I remember last Friday a week ago... spending the night in the pouring rain, lying in several inches of water on the side of a hill, with a broken arm.... comes a fairly close second.

But thanks for your concern. The "arm" (it turned out to be the wrist, actually) has been set in plaster of paris, and I plan to continue on with the trip tomorrow -- but not to Pulau this time: don't want to spend the time and money going to a beach/swimming/snorkeling destination when I can't get the arm/cast wet.

Any thoughts on how people in South India would react to a visitor eating and dealing with others with only his left hand? I have the chance to head that way for a bit.
-
Again, thanks
