Travelling to Palau

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

Hi,

I am from Portugal and thinking on going to Palau in the end of August.
From Europe, what s the cheapest way to reach Koror..? Via Manila..The Pacif Flyer web site does not allow any bookings online.
Is august a good month to visit the islands?

Thank you for your help

Pedro

not sure the cheapest way, as i came West to reach Palau - but i found Sept a good month to visit.
haven't been there any other time, though.

I am pretty sure that from Europe, cheapest is going via Manila.
If you are desperate to book online and can't on Pacific Flier, try Continental - keep checking varioius dates as their rates can vary enormously for no obvious reason.
In case you opt for Continental, you could also check fares via Hong Kong and Guam - who knows?

Often you can get really cheap fares to Manila from Europe. Getting into Micronesia is another story. Don't know anything about Pacific Flier. But don't book anything but Continental far in advance since most startups flying into Palau are very short lived. You might check to see if you can get cheaper fares flying into Guam with a stopover in Palau- that has been known to work, sometimes. August is fine in Palau.

Thank you!
But Can I fly from Manila to Palau Via Guam with Continental?

Kind regards

Palau is about half way between Manila and Guam- it is the first stop on the way to Guam from Manila. Next stop is Yap (depending on the day), then Guam.

Pedro,

I just got back from Palau and heard from several locals that PacificFlier has a bad habit of canceling flights to Palau when they haven't sold enough tickets. They stick with (the much pricier) Continental. Might not be an issue if you have a flexible schedule.

Pedro,

Forgot to mention that August is still in wet season, so bring a rain coat with you. Not to fear--I just got back and found that most of the rain was at night, and that the storms during the day were quite short. Do bring lots of mosquito repellent and something to put on the bites.

But don't worry about malaria- they don't have the right kind of mosquitos. Dengue s another story. And It could be rainy but then again, maybe not. The seasons are not very predictable in Palau. Just figure it will rain some every day, it will be hot and humid, every day, and gorgeous all the time.

Thanks for the information on PacificFlier Tilos!
In fact the price for flying to Manila from Europe is quite reazonable, on the other hand the continental price just from Manila to Palao is more ! So, let`s see if I can get a good price...otherwise my destiny will be Australia instead!

also check out China Airlines flies twice weekly from Taipei to Koror
www.china-airlines.com
online booking is possible though you will have to compare the price with the more popular Continental
