Waterfront Villas

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Palau

Had a terrible stay at the Waterfront Villas in Koror. Although the hotel is located at the sea you can not swimm because there are mangroves and swamps right in front of the hotel. Additionally the hotel is run down and far away from downtown. Even with the bike it takes 25 minutes because it is all uphill. Not to recommend at all!!

You forgot to mention the wonderful fast ride home to the resort-all downhill!

Sorry about your experience, looked back at my listing of Waterfront Villas, although I did not mention that you could swim directly in front of the notel, perhaps the name led you astray. The few places that have swimming beaches are indicated in my guidebook and "waterfront" does not indicate that swimming is available directly in front of the hotel. Good luck on your future travels and you may want to ask the question about swimming prior to booking the hotel.

That is too bad- tis true that there are almost no beaches in Koror- which is why the Palau Pacific Resort is so special. Even the new big hotel out towards ice box point doesn't- the harbor is not a great swim. And biking around Palau can be hot and often wet traveling. Hope you had other better experiences in Palau though.

We stayed at the Waterfront on our recent stay. While you're right that it's not a beachfront experience, and the location could be more central, we thought the one bedroom units were very comfortable and spacious, and good value. The owners were very friendly and helpful as well.
