11 nights in PNGCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hi guys, I kind of need some recommendations on my trip to PNG. I am trying to arrange a 11 night trip to PNG in the end of September '17 by myself. I would really like to stay at a place for 4-5 days for diving (probably Kavieng or Kimbe) and spend the rest of the time on exploring more of the cultural treasures of PNG. That said, I would really like to go trekking somewhere in the jungle/highlands for the rest of the time and visit some small villages. Do you have any experiences with that or know anyone who could help me arranging it? The diving seems to be more straightforward to organise, but the second part seems a little more difficult. Would be great to hear back from someone or get some info on where to get the info.
hi bojak - png is great place with many different areas to explore i would suggest the LP guidebook and posts here and on tripadvisor as a good source of info - even posts a few years old are still releavant - outisde moresby not much changes kavieng has amazing diving and more pelagics than kimbe as it borders the pacific - lissenung island is the place to stay- we had a great time there - kimbe also has great diving but as a much large island also offers trekking opportunities such as mount garbuna | 1
