3 weeks papua new guinea (PNG) looking for ideas in September

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Hi, I want to travel to PNG for around 3 weeks in September because of the Goroka Show.

Looking for ideas what is nice to see. A mixture between people, countryside and cultural.

Jungle Tracking, snorcling at nice sandy beaches, maybe river boots tour like Sepik River.

Is it easy to travel around via bus and plain?
Do you find every hostels/ minihotels ?

Thanks in advance.

lots of advice here and on the tripadvisor forum - have a look at my post here on a month in PNG

Hi @Heidebimbam, PNG is an amazing country, and incredibly diverse! I would take in some island scenery, some snorkelling, and some village culture.

You can do jungle trekking and village tours from Walindi in Kimbe Bay, and you can learn a lot about highland village life in and around Mount Hagen. Have a peek at http://www.pngtours.com/ for accommodation and tour ideas.

You'll find nice sandy beaches on the far islands (New Ireland) and incredible snorkelling and diving in Tufi (stay here, it's awesome - Tufi Dive Resort).

Check out my blog if you want more info and stories!
