Accommodation

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Hi :)
Yes, now we have bought our tickets and it is now time to  plan our trip :)
I've looked for accommodation in Port Moresby and immediately there will be expensive and very fine hotels ahead. We are traveling as backpackers, and is not immediately interested in the fine points. Therefore, I hear there are some of you who know backpacker places. However, still with a private room and bathroom?

Thanks :)

not sure exactly what you are after in png?the best trekking is in remote regions, chimbu province/sth highlands/lake kutubu......as for accom in pom,you will be advised to get out of pom as quickly as possible to save money.
there is a couple of "flashpackers"basic accom, try the mapang missionary home
e.mail mapang@daltron.com.pg it is in lahara ave in boroko
it is not a great city to sit and wait!be careful.

Where would you suggest one go, if not staying in Port Moresby?

Ill be arriving the 2nd of September, and find it hard to find anything reasonable, I arrive early so I would have some time to move on to another city straight from the airport. Any Suggestions?
