Accomodation in Port MoresbyCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Anyone know of reasonably priced accomodations in Port Moresby?
I stayed at The Gateway a few years ago. It seems to be regarded at the lower end of the decent hotels in Moresby. Just checked the rates though, and it is about $USD220 - I'd go for Airways if a similar price, but maybe email direct and see if they have any "specials". Rob | 1

I stayed at Ambers Inn in Boroko, but that was 15 years ago when it cost 40 kina a night. Have no idea what the price is now, but PM is pricey. | 2
Thanks bedigo, thanks Watsoff; think I'll just wing it when I get there; I splurged in 2000 and stayed one night at Airways, but it was much, much cheaper then - still the most expensive place in town, but for a night it was OK. Now it's just to painful to pay what they're asking for a single night. | 3
stayed at comfort inn 18months ago, rooms are ok,i paid 145kina per nite, they also picked up from airport/it is right in boroko(15minutes to airport)try and phone for reservations..easier than e.mail. phone 675.3255091 | 4
Does Port Moresby have Church-run Rest Houses, as Honiara does? Thye would be safe, and much cheaper than the rates above. | 5
hey, I've heard good reports of the coral sea from someone i've been travelling with in the past. i'm going with mt family in png in october and booked there on line they seem ok. enjoy | 6
You'll find that the top end hotels do weekend rates - half price for Friday - Saturday & Sunday nights - I stayed at Ela Beach Hotel in May - I think it worked out at £75

Some of the better POM hotels are now on wotif.com, if you haven't already found something. | 8
I get asked this question a lot by expats living outside of POM who need to overnight there. In short, there are no good/safe cheap options. Only expensive hotels & cheap hovels. The prices charged by any of the 'decent' hotels are outragous! | 9
What about the Shady Rest in Gordons? I have to say, Ela Beach Lodge - I will dine out on my stay there for years ;-)) | 10
The Saggy Breast? The opportunity to learn that fabulous customary greeting, the Chimbu Handshake ;-) | 11
