Any ideas...Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hello! I am currently in New Zealand coming to the end of an almost two year long trip, heading back to England at the beginning of September, and looking into spending the month of August in Papua New Guinea. I'm just starting to do my research now and the more research I do the more sure I am of my plan. I've looked into flights so I know pretty much what I'm doing in that regard, and I know (?!) that The Mount Hagen Show is on the 13th/14th of August, so I'll want to be there for that. So as you can see there are some quite sizable gaps in my plan and I wondered if anyone out there might offer some words of advice on how best to fill them. I'm reading guide books at the moment of course but I just thought at this stage I would put the feelers out there to see if anyone had any friendly advice for me to add to my research. If anyone could give an estimate on how much spending money a budget traveler might spend in one month there then I would be particularly grateful. I can see that last bit is going to be met with crys of "its impossible! Ra ra ra, we dont know what you like ra ra ra what is budget to you ra ra ra", just use your common sense I'm not going to live and die by the number you give me am I...Thanking you in advance johnnyrotten x
All I can say is avoid Port Moresby, even for a night, if possible. It will blow any budget. From NZ, you have to fly via Australia. If you can take the option via Cairns (rather than Brisbane) you have to spend a night in Cairns (to get a red eye the next morning) but it's far nicer and cheaper than a night in PM. | 1
