Beach near Port Moresby

Hi folks,

I'm spending a couple of weeks in PNG later in the year for work, and am planning on using a couple of days' leave first to acclimatise. I wondered if there are any beautiful, safe beaches quite close to Port Moresby with somewhere decent to stay and eat?

Any recommendations much appreciated!

the locals swim at ela beach but i would not call it beautiful or safe

best bet is to get out to one of the reef islands but this needs a boat and some organising and expense

either dougo / fishermans island or hamia

hamia can be reached by hiring a fishing boat from the fishing village just nort of porebada

i have not done either but adventurous friends from the yacht club have
