Bordercrossing from Indonesia to Papua Neugini.

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Did someone cross this boarder in the last days.

Regulation seems to change all the time. I do have my VISA for PNG, But do I need to stemp out on the Kantor imigrasi di indonesia or can I go to the boarder and stemp out there???

Thx.

Good luck finding someone who crossed in the last few days - you need it.

I sure didn't, so will only add that having to go to the immigration office in Jayapura for an exit stamp was mostly the case when people had Indonesian visas issued on arrival, rather than from embassies/consulates abroad.
And these often faced additional "issues" (demand for cash).
The underlying logic seemed to be that a visa on arrival is only valid for entry (and apparently exit) via VOA arrival points, and the land border at Wutung is (till this day) not one of those.
Not sure if this is still an issue though.

Ok.

I got my VISA for PNG within 3 Days SURPRIIIIISE!!!
I heart they changed the boss. It seems to be better now... or I'm lucky.

I gonna update it again on the page:
PNG VISA on the 18.7.2011

Here some of the things I needed to get it.
Update 18.7.2011 afternoon. I've spoken to a high rank official in the immigration office. Any VISA's on arrival has to be stamped out in the immigration office in Jayapura cos the technics doesn't exist on the boarder. The normal VISA's issued in a embassy can be stamped out AT THE BOARDER to PNG.

The Documents:
- 2x passport- images. Signed with a blue pen on the back. White background.
- A letter in englisch why you want to visit PNG.
- A letter where you wanna go in PNG.
- A letter I explained why I don't have flighttickets. (cos I wanna hitchhike boats)
- A letter where I explain how I gonna pay this travellings.
- The bank papers to prove so I have enough money.
- Copies of my passport.
- Copies of the VISA of indonesia
- 225'000. They surely haven't change money. Bring it exactely.
- Everything must be done written with a blue pen. If not you can do it again. (for example the VISA Form you get in the consulate)
- I fount a lot of addres in the internet. Not one was accepted. Here the addres the woman gave me on the consulate:

Papua New Guinea Consulate General
P.O. Box 1947, Ruko Matoa Blok 6-7
Jln Raya Kelapa Dua Entrop Jayapura
Papua Province
Indonesia

  • I DIDN'T need the sponsor/ contacts adress.

Again: A lots of fun in the VISA hell...
