Bougainville

I am planning a trip to Bougainville next month(July 09).

I need any information concerning the area. For example:

How to get around (local transportation, rental vehicles)
Money Cash (what type PNG or dollars/euros)
Credit cards
Hotels
Food
Weather during July
Events in July
Crime concerns

And any thing else that would be value

Well, my info is a few years old, but then few people visit this place.

Local transport was limited even by PNG standards.
PMVs along the main roads did exist.
Most facilities were only readily available in Buka.
Food and very simple lodging was available in smaller towns on Bougainville, too.
It seemed very wet year-round - extremly lush and beautiful!
There were more guns around than elsewhere in PNG so ask locals before heading off exploring!

Almost 4 years ago.
I only stayed overnight in Buin, and then with local friends, so I guess the latest LP should offer far more details on the hotels than I could.
I doubt you will be spoilt for choice anyway!
