Crocodile Festival in Ambunti upper Sepik region 10th-12th August

_The Crocodile Festival in Ambunti - Sepik region takes place at the 10th until 12th of August every year

This festival has been founded with support of the WWF for preservation the native culture and development of tourism in this region with unspoiled nature.

In 2012 it will be the 6 time for the festival and it will be bigger from year to year . Now it becomes more and more wellknown and

you can see pictures and video in the internet by searching with google

This is the most spectular time of travelling in the Sepik region and you can combine this tour to Ambunti with also visiting the Mt. Hagen show before in July or the Goroka show in September after that in the highlands.

Travelling to PNG without visiting their festival is a great loss ,as only in the festivals you can see the original cultur

As the Crocodile Festival gets more and more visitor each year , the Ambunti Lodge will be occupied , but there is the chance to stay in the guesthouse in Wagu lake ,from where you can make day trips to Ambunti to visit the festival ,The owner of the Wagu guesthouse is Mathew Kaka ,he is also guide with an own boat ,so he can organize your tour from Wewak :The Wagu lake is a paradise place with the real chance to see birds of paradise

I went to Croc Ferstival year 2. Excellent visit and also highly suggest going. You can reallt intermix with the dancers. Lodging is very scarce so book well in advance. The boat ride to Ambunti alone is worth the trip.....
