Crossing the Border Vanimo to JayapuraCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hi everybody, I am planning to take a plane from Port Moresby to Vanimo and to go to Jayapura by road. Do you know if it is possible Thanks a lot Simone
little confused about what costs you mean?...if you mean the flight it is 900kina to vanimo, the indonesi visa at vai is 60kina,the bus to the border 15kina,taxi from the border to jayapura city is 400,000 rupiah(share with others and it becomes cheap)keep in mind you will have to get another png visa in jayapura to get back into png, this is messy and takes up to aweek!!!see previous posts about this. | 1
Hi Donbrisbane, i am doing the same except from jayapuram to vanimo,, i went to indonesia embassy and i did asked them if possible to cross from vanimo into jayapuram, they said it is not possible. 1) if you are lucky you might get thru | 2
Hi Donbrisban, sorry i meant to reply to Simone and not you..thousand apology doubledove | 3
sorry i am still confused as which way you want to go?jayapura to vanimo you will need a png visa and then get an indonesian visa at vanimo to go back....in reverse opposite!the slow part is obtaining png visa at the consul in the suburb of entrop(allow 7 days)!!!there are no buses to the border from jayapura/it takes 2 hours by taxi or motorbike.good roads.buses do run from vanimo to wutung(border)excellent road conditions.you cannot cross the border with transport=get let off one side /walk across immigration checks and catch different transport the other side. | 4
