Last year had a bad experience with a tour copany which has since been de listed thanks to efforts of PNG tourism Board. We are now thinking of returning and are wary of tour operators so any suggestions gratefully received. We would like to see the mud men and also smoke burials. What sugestions for the Sepik River area...

I went on a tour of the Sepik River in December 2006 - here is my trip report.

In the trip report there is a recommendation of the tour operator I used - PNG Frontier Adventures. I highly recommend them.

You will have a great experience on the river when you go.

I went for few days trip in Jan07 with Steven Buku - the legend of Sepik, the best guide ever! You can find him in Niugo part of Wevak or ask for him at Windjammer Hotel. Don't go to Niugo without guide. It's better if you're more than one cause you can share cost.
