Emmanuel Lodge Goroka - Beware advance payment

Beware advance payment - refund doesn't happen
Why the warning? We booked a double at Emmanuel Lodge in January 2018 for September . We were told to pay 1,980 kina by bank transfer in advance; which we did. Unfortunately, we realised in late June after a car accident at home in Australia that we would have to cancel the September reservation and asked for a refund. The hotel accounts department as of today (four months) has given dozens of excuses and has not supplied the refund. Make up your own mind if you want to deal with this kind of hotel.

sorry to hear this - are you sure the terms and conditions allowed you to ask for a refund ?

during the busy periods around the festivals demand is so high that people ask for non-refunable payments
or deposits since they could sell rooms many times over

also this is the kind of situation for which travel insurance is for

anyhow thanks for the warning - i would advise anyone making a payment or deposit in png to consider it non returnable

save perhaps for credit card payments to major hotels in moresby or airlines
