Ferry boat

Hello everybody,

Is there a ferry boat between madang and milne bay (Tufi or Alotau) and also another btw. Madang and wewak ? Where to find informations on the web for there frequency, price, ... ?

There are regular ferries travelling between Madang, Wewak, Lae, Oro & Milne Bay. Schedules vary so it would be best to check once you got here. One option would be to take a bus to Lae and catch a ferry from there to Oro & Milne Bay.

Starships have ferries which run weekly from Alotau to popondetta then on to Lae, Lae to Madang and Madang to Wewak. Each leg costs around 100k, madang to wewak is a bit cheaper and popondetta to Lae is a bit more. If you have a student card you get a decent discount. Starships have an office in each of the above mentions locations, numbers are listed in the phone book. Also there is a Lutheran shipping company that might take passengers around the Madang-wewak area.

i just did the ferry trip to wewak.

we left on a monday with lutheran shipping 6pm and reached wewak at 9am.

2.class is 85KINA - verry rough but an real adventure i can tell you - we met some funny guys. everybody is wondering why you white guy take this class
1.calss - tourist calss - about 105KINA
