Getting into Indonesia through Vanimo - Jayapura

I read somewhere crossing the land border was closed because of some shooting; anyone knows if its possible to get into Indonesia again through Vanimo?

plenty of info here and on the tripadvisor forum about the border crossing - make sure you research the visa requirements

the border is occasionally closed for a few days due to trouble on either side and sometimes visa stamps are subject to long delays - all in all it is a crossing for the patient traveller with a flexible itinerary
