help finding tour or independent travel

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

A small group of us are planning to spend 2-3 weeks in png visiting the goroka show then travelling around.
Can anyone reccommend a cheap tour operator and if not is it easy to organise and visit the sights of png ourselves without spending a fortune.
we are a group of 3 lads.

I doubt such a thing as "a cheap tour operator in PNG" exists.

Visiting the "sights" of the country on your own is not really "cheap" either, but certainly cheaper than taking a tour. In any case, PNG is more a country to visit for experiences than for sights, and experiences tend to come better when traveling without a tour.

I guess you haven't even read the LP guide yet - do, for a start!

What is written in the first reply ,is right . But it is also not necessary to have a guide for the full tour in PNG .You can arrange from outside PNG by internet the accommodation (the hostels or hotel ) at the points where you want to go in PNG .When you have contact to your accommodation ,then you get support for transportation from the airport. The flights with Air Niugine in PNG you can also book from oversea

Only for a Sepik tour it is more difficult as the guides live not in Wewak ,but in the villages of the Sepik region . I can recommend the Sepik tour to the Wagu lake see the thread of 04.Appril 2012 I also have read from other travellers ,that the tour to Wagu lake is a highlight : Ihave been there and I have seen also the bird of paradise
