Highlands fine to visit?

Hi everyone,

I'll be in PNG from next Monday on for 11 days but haven't really decided on the itinerary yet.

Can anybody who is currently there or has currently been there confirm if the highlands are ok to visit at the moment in spite of the elections? Are there any areas which are currently not safe to visit?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

To answer my own question: I traveled Lae-Goroka-Mt Wilhelm-Mt Hagen all on PMVs and it was fine. I was told by the locals that the Eastern Highlands are a bit tense at the moment and people here in Hagen are expecting trouble.
