jayapura to vanimo

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

hi there, very soon we will be flying from Manila to Jayapura then by land to Vanimo for work. i would like to ask if we still need to secure Visa for this trip arrangement. What type of Visa in particular please? Many thanks.

Hi labalon,

yes you need a visa to enter Papua New Guinea. General visa requirements & information are found at http://www.pngtourism.org.pg/PassportVisaInfo. If you are travelling for work and require a different visa then it will be best to contact the nearest PNG High Commission or Embassy. A list of these is found at http://www.pngtourism.org.pg/MissionsAndPosts

have a good trip.

Yes, you do need a PNG visa, and while you can get one in Jayapura, it can be a pain and take a week even just for a simple tourist visa.
Try getting your visa sorted out before arriving in Jayapura (for example in Manila?) if you can.

Dose anyone have information about the other way?
I plan to travel in NPG, and cross by land into Indo from Vamino.
where is the best place for me to get a Indo visa? (any chance for a visa on arrival?!)
Tank you!

You can only get visa on arrival if you enter by sea at Jayapura port.
By land, a visa is required and can normally be obtained in Vanimo.
