| pilko14:57 UTC28 May 2007 | Hi,
I'm planning a trip PM-Kokoda-Popondetta-Lae-Madang-Wewak-PM.
Any Tips.
PM-Kokoda: Walking Kokoda-Popondetta: I hear it is easy by PMV truck? Popondetta-Lae by boat: no info, how frequent? how many hours? Lae-Madang: I hear this is by frequent 4 hour PMV truck? Madang-Wewak: no info! Do boats do this trip often? How much? How many hours? Wewak-PM: Aeroplane: Aus$235
Ideally I would do this trip in about two weeks after spending about a week on the Kokoda trail.
Also, does anyone know how to purchase a Kokoda trail permit. The Kokoda Trail Authority recomends not walking during the wet season, do they prevent people from doing this?
Any tips would be greatly appreciated, sorry about the large number of questions, theres not a lot of info.
Many Thanks.

Overnight or so.
Quote
Lae-Madang: I hear this is by frequent 4 hour PMV truck?

Not THAT frequent, but several daily. And it certainly CAN take longer than 4 hours.
Quote
Madang-Wewak: no info! Do boats do this trip often? How much? How many hours?

At least weekly, or twice a week. If I recall well (after doing it 3 times) it's also overnight (leaving in the afternoon, arriving next moring).
I've never walked Kokoda, but I really doubt any authority will stop anyone from walking it in the wet.
