Kokoda Track booked locally during the Christmas holidays

I am looking to do the Kokoda track over the Christmas holidays, but the websites I have viewed are super expensive for this trek.

Considering I paid $1200USD to climb Kilimanjaro in 2011; the $3500 seems overly excessive.

Can anyone recommend a tour company who are more reasonable or is it possible to book locally at much cheaper prices?

Hi, you can find company in Kokoda Trek Authirity in Port Moresby. Its located in Boroko area in Brian Bell Plaza Building. They have a list of local companies there.

Hey, I'm going to be there around the same time looking to do the same thing, i was planning on rocking up and hiring my own village guide and carry all my own gear and supplies. Not sure how practical that will be but with a track as commercially run as that one, I reckon it would be pretty easy with a bit of local knowledge and a price no more than $100
