Milne Bay vs New Ireland

Hi Guys,

Anyone been both in Milne Bay are and New Ireland. I've got around 2 weeks backpacking with low budget starting around New Year. I can spend time either Milne Bay, Entrecasteux islands, tobriand or New Ireland and both of these seem to be what i am looking for, chilling, relaxing, snorkkeling but foremost peace and chance to mingle into local cultures meaning that I would prefer staying in village questhouses. My questions which one of these areas would be better in weather wise?
Is one able to catch a boat from Entrecasteux islands to Tobriand Islands? Any "public or common routes"?
Any special festivities around New Year in any of these areas?

Well both places are good for you to visit and relex around this time of the year..but mind you its the wet season so if your thinking Milebay to travel out by boat to the Trobrian Island then i wouldnt suggest for you to take that route..there will be rough sea around that time. New Island should be ok..ill find out about the festivities and let you know
