Need help with Alotau/Esa'ela post officeCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hello During last year trip to PNG islands we've visited tiny village on tiny island Tewara in Alotau province. We found people from Tewara fantastic, extremely friendly and so memorable.. They gave us their "adress" to send them letter from home. So we did - we send big envelope with letter and small stuff for childrens (pencils etc.). It was in August, 2 months after we've send another letter, but still no response from them. I'm afraid that those letters could stuck in Alotau office, as they had to be transferred via Alotau to Esa'ela (closest "post office" to Tewara). Maybe some of You will travel to Alotau or know somebody living there just to ask in post office do they recieved those letters? It's really important to me.. Thanks
sadly the mail in png is pretty poor with many items going 'missing' - there is no delivery but only a PO box at a post office so someone has to go to the post office to collect | 1
I know there's no delivery to Tewara island:) They said (people from Tewara) that they sometimes recieve letters from some australian scuba diver who was there few years ago. They need to go to Esa'ela to pick them up. They also said, that mail is travelling via Alotau post office, which is quite big (for PNG standards).. | 2
