| Laszlo16:10 UTC03 Jan 2007 | I didn't stay but visited the place last year.
The island is largish, flat and has a scruffy, reasonably friendly village on it (away from the resort). The villagers selll some trinkets, shell-money, etc to guests. The resort is in a quiet, bushy corner of the island, overlooking Kavieng. The beach was OK, not stunning.
Kavieng is close enough that if you get bored you can cross over by boat in a few minutes for shopping at the market, eating local food, etc.
I would definitely recommend taking those pills.
All in all, it is a nice place to chill out, but I would only find it worth staying at if allowing for making boat trips to other islands/reefs for diving or snorkelling. Many of those neighbouring islands are downright stunning tropical paradises.

| paulah09:14 UTC29 Jan 2007 | I stayed there in November 06 - had a fantastic time - they have two new over the water bungalows, which were fantastic to stay in. I went on a prepaid package from australia, so dont know the breakdown of food/accomm costs - but it was a good value holiday. The food was great - i love seafood and gorged on crayfish, crab, fish etc.... The rates of Malaria on the island are low - but there is definately malaria around - so i would recommend taking anti malarials - or being very careful to cover up at night (mozzie nets are provided). You could email the retreat and get firm estimates on costs: www.nusaislandretreat.com.pg<BR>Some of the nearby islands are really beautiful if you are into diving/snorkelling or just hanging on deserted islands.
