Of we go to the wilds of Mt Hagen

Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

Hello all,

Thanks for the info on my last posting. But it looks like I will be going to Mt Hagen in December for two weeks. soooo ......

A couple questions for you in the know folks.

In Dec what is the typical hi and low temperature for the day ?

Is the humidity pretty high ?

How much rain to expect ? Poncho or jacket ? umbrella ?

How are the mosquitoes ?

What essential piece of gear you would bring for a two week stay ?

Hi there,

Weather - Min about 8-14 deg overnight. 18-24 during the day.
Expect some rain pretty much everyday in December, mostly from mid-afternoon and overnight.
Cloudy with sunny breaks.
Take a poncho or umbrella in case you are caught in a shower outdoors.
Mosquitos - i've never had a real problem with them.

What to bring? Pack light. A torch. A bag that is tough and easy to carry.

Cheers,
Kruegs

Hmm Much cooler than I expected.

Why do you recommend a bag that is tough ? Easy to carry I understand.

I was thinking a small backpack and one of the duffel totes the military guys use. I need to bring some tools along hence the larger duffel.
