Papua New Guinea during the wet season (Dec-Jan)Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hello, Looking for some advice. I really would like to go to PNG for some good trekking and cultural experiences in December 2011/Jan2012. I've read that the wet season is not a reason to not go to PNG- here and I've read its not worth going also. I even saw that some trek tour groups cancel trips during the wet season. So, anyone been there in December/Jan? How was it? Worth it with the rain? How about any hiking? Was it too wet or muddy? Thanks!

Went to Dec-Jan a couple of years ago and it was fine. In Goroka it rained heavily every afternoon but you knew it was going to happen so could just plan to be inside then (or have an umbrella). We only did one half day trek. It was slippery, but nothing outrageous. Also went to Madang, Wewak, Sepik and can't remember rain being an issue at all (except for LOTS of mozzies at Sepik). | 2
