Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea

hi

so i am waiting to know if there are any passage ships that are cheap between port cities, how oftern they run and how long they take. I am espically intrested in transport between vanimo and Wewak what are my options of between lae and wewak by boat.

Love if people could help me on this one.

thank you

yes there is a semi regular service run by lutheran shipping along the north coast...lae/madang/wewak/vanimo.the trip from madang to wewak is 12hours...same for wewak to vanimo.try this e.mail for mor detail
luship.madang@global.net.pg
there are various forms of travel...standard...or v.i.p(bed).not sure how often the vanimo route actually goes??

I travelled that route 3 times over the years, and always found the Vanimo-Wewak leg far less regular/frequent than the Wewak-Madang/Lae one.

You may still end up taking a flight, or a banana boat to Aitepe, if you don't have the time or patience to sit around in Vanimo for days or even weeks...
