I understand that PNG Art on the Poreporena Freeway near Gordons has closed or relocated. Does anyone have any recent info on this? I'm visiting Port Moresby next week, nothing on the web about it, but if the shop is still trading am keen to visit ...
PNG Arts has closed - the guy running it retired there are small occasional markets outside the holiday inn and sometimes the gateway where people sell bilums, paintings and carvings - often of dubious artistic and cultural value but worth a look and you might be lucky - the gift shops at the international airport and some of the hotels can have nice smaller things - at high prices relative to prices in the villages they are from but still affordable also go to the national museum and see the real thing - they have an amazing collection - entry is free so make a donation | 1
What a shame! It was a great shop, with so much stuff under one roof Thanks for letting me know -will do the rounds of small local markets (another one is out the front of Waterfront shops) | 2
