PNG travel on a budget :)

I am in PNG at the moment, heading up to East new britain, the Duke of yorks and New Ireland.

I would really appreciate any contacts/advice/general info on these places that might help me along the way. I particularly need help keeping costs down cause Im finding it quite expensive here for a backpacker like me!

I hope it's not too late.
I spent 1 week without paying anything. Every night I asked to sleep in villages (I had a tent). People are so kind they invited me to stay inside every night and fed me. I stayed 2 weeks and paid no hotel. Either sleeping in villages or wild camping (just be smart and hide from the roads and paths).
