PNG Visa

Im British so not concerned with the visa situation, but my girlfriend is Russian and needs a visa before she arrives. From what little information we can find, it appears that there is only a PNG embassy in Australia or USA and you cant get a visa anywhere else? Is this correct or is there any way of obtaining one in Papua or somewhere else in Indonesia or Malaysia? Any help would be fantastic as it feels like we are banging our head against a brick wall when we have tried to contact the mentioned embassies above.

Singapore. Malaysia I think, Bangkok, UK, New Zealand, Beijing. Probably a few more. All the bigger Pacific nations will also have a PNG High Commission.

Haha, maybe the consulor was superman! Appreciate the help and will try to give the ones in Indonesia a call. It strange how some countries have no information on their official site, its been the same problem with Brunei who don't advertise their embassy in Kot Kinabalu. Anyway, thanks a million.

Cheers Eddy, it looks like Jakarta will be a good bet. The only reason we are getting one in advance is we have been told Russians need a visa before they arrive and we dont want to get stuck in Jayapura :) Thanks for your help.

Jakarta is NOT a good bet!
They only issue a visa if you plan to fly to Port Moresby.
If planning to enter overland, they tell you to get it in Jayapura, where the consulate has long been very unpredictable, to say the least...

ooooh! Where would you recommend we tried then? Is KL any better, we could go out of our way a little to get it there? We only managed to get my Russian girlfriend a visa for Brunei by getting dummy plane tickets in and out of the country, maybe we could do this for Port Moresby too?

I can't see why you can't just say you are flying to Port Moresby from Jakarta and then go overland with your visa. The immigration system of PNG is not that sofisticated that they will reject you at border with Indonesia. In fact all they do is fill in a notebook on the PNG side. The hardest part will be getting the stamp out of Indonesia.

The trouble with getting it in JKT is that the PNG consulate there wants to see your RT ticket to Moresby.
Getting one and refunding later might be troublesome and expensive.
Singapore might be worth trying...
