Port Moresby Accomodation

Hi,
Travelling to Papua New Guinea for a freelance job and need an incredibly cheap place to stay in Port Moresby for a month or so. Anyone know any place thats extremelly cheap? Not necesarily a hotel, a hostel, boarding house, spare room etc would just as good.

When are you heading there and do you have a place. I read it was not recommended to cheap out because of personal safety. Could you please contact me ASAP if you are going to be there from Feb 13th onwards?

i cant vouch for anywhere cheap in POM but the jessie wyatt and the lutheran mission are mentioned in several posts

security at these kind of places is not high so you need to be an experienced traveler and keep a low profile

The cheapest I found was Kangaroo Motel. People say it is on the "dangerous side" of the city though I had no problems and the people where actually very friendly and escorted me everywhere, but also told me not to be walking there alone.

Forgot to mention that the place runs a sort of security company so it is very safe inside. You might not be offered a room because the "backpacker" area was closed some time ago, but they might still have normal rooms.
