Port Morseby to Misima

Hello,
I need to get from Port Moresby to Misima Island in the Louisiades group in early November - any hints/tricks/heads-ups?

Airlines PNG has some flights from Port Moresby to Misima via Gurney.

RachelTaz, please check if APNG are flying. Their Dash-8 fleet is currently grounded indefinately, albeit voluntarily following the tragic crash last week. I am pretty sure it would be the Dash-8 that does this run.

Watch out at Misima also - there was a plane crash there in the recent past. The island has not had it's infrastructure kept up by the provincial administration post-mine closure.

Bisliilki - I was personally involved in that plane crash on Misima in Sept 2010. The crash was due to the weather conditions and was unforeseen.

The people on Misima dealt with that crash amazingly and the one survivor should attribute his life to them. They kept him alive on a deisel generator at the hospital and the bodies of the victims in cooling rooms.

The infrastructure while lacking, was appropriate and is suitable for the local needs. The hospitals and roads are well kept, and the school is managed well.
