Reliability of Philippine Air flight to POM

Hi,

I’m hoping to travel to PNG this summer and am eyeing a flight from the US via Manila on Philippine Air. However I’m hearing that Philippine Air is notorious for cancelling that flight and leaving passengers stranded for days. Does any one have any experience with this flight to comment? This flight is definitely our most convenient option - but we can’t afford to lose several days dealing with a delay.

stats show it is reasonably reliable - since your only other option is Air Niugini i wouldnt worry

we have taken this flight 3 times - once we were an hour late which made a very tight turnaround for a domestic flight but all ok in the end - ground staff and security are usually very helpful to tourists

Flying USA to Pom connection through Hong Kong seems easy and reasonable
