I'll be heading into the Sundaun province for about 5 weeks, super remote. Has anyone had a good experience with renting a satellite phone? Suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Mate you'd be surprised how much GSM coverage there is up there now, I drove from Wewak to Vanimo recently and there was cell coverage on and off all the way. There are cell towers every where now. How remote are you going or staying coastal?? I've never rented a sat phone in country but have in Cairns and taken it up there - ridiculously expensive...... | 1
I'll be in Ama, near the Irian Jaya border. Its considered East Sepik but its almost Sundaun. | 2
Try Cellhire Satellite Phone Rental. They have Iridium 9555 and ISat Pro. We've used them before for Hurricane contingency and the devices have always worked well. Good support network too. | 3
