Sepik alone

Hello has anybody fresh informations about sepik? I want to go next week alone...a guide is too expensive. Once I'll be in pagwi, is it possible to find rides to villages and be back to wewak in a week? Thank you!

Hi.

you can do as you plan but you might need to wait in pagwi and you need to know where you want to go. He will take you only to middle sepik to see the spirit houses but there you will see more of the same. If you have enough time i advice you to see one max two spirit houses and head to upper sepik which to my opinion is more interesting.

travelling by PMV canoe you are dependent on other peoples schedules - mainly market days

get to maprik or pagwi on any day except a weekend and then you should be able to get out to some villages
and back the following week but you will have to take what you can find rather than choose
and may not be able to see many different places - it may turn out great but then again you may be stuck
somewhere not so interesting

if you can get to ambunti then you should be able to get regular market canoes most days heading back
to villages nearby
