Sepik trip/Mt Wilhelm hike - anyone keen to join me?Country forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hi I'm going to be in Mount Hagen for the show over the weekend of the 13/14th August. After this I'm very much hoping to do a trip up the Sepik but due to costs would probably only able to afford this if I could get some people to join me (would like to organise through a local guide) I have two thoughts at the moment If anyone is keen to try oraganise something with me, please let me know. And if not for the Sepik trip if I go with the second option to join me for the Mt Wilhelm trip. Cheers
Hello Carolyn, Just a piece of info, in case you were not ware - Wewak is linked to Mt. Hagen by Airlines PNG. They have better prices than Air Niugini and you can book ticket online. There is no need to fly to Wewak via POM. Best regards, | 1
Don't know how far along your plans are, but if you're still considering climbing Mt. Wilhelm, I highly recommend going through Betty Higgins, and staying at her lodge up near Keglsugl. | 2
Hi, I have been, climbed, and am now back home :-( I stayed at the East Keglsugl (although they seemed to spell it differently) Guesthouse. Betty's guesthouse gets used by all the tour companies so besides being a whole lot cheaper, I was very happy to support someone else. I was very well looked where I stayed, there was hot water for the shower and got fed and cooked great meals with fresh veges from the garden. So no complaints at all and would definitely recommend them. Now I'm not by any means saying that Betty's is not good, I wouldn't know, just saying that there are other (cheaper) options. There is also another lodge that has recently opened, near Betty's at the top of the road. I can't remember it's name unfortunately, but looked okay. | 3
