Sepik upstream itineraryCountry forums / Pacific Islands & Papua New Guinea / Papua New Guinea
Hi all, We're 2 people planning to visit the Sepik region starting from Madang: take a PMV to Bogia (day1) , hitch a banana boat to Angoram (day2), try to get to Pagwi from there on (day3-4-5-6) and take a PMV to Wewak (day7). This would be completed in approx. 7 days. Is this a plausible schedule? I read that travel by river from Angoram to Pagwi would be around 15 hours in total! I can't seem to work it out if there would be sufficient time to complete this trip in a relatively relaxed way. Thanks a lot, Suzanne
I think you can only plan to do this if you are prepared to rent your own boat, rather than hitch, especially from Angoram to Pagwi. | 1
its plausible but will probably take longer - trips like this need a flexible schedule as laszlo says from angoram to pagwi isnt really a trade route so you may need to hire a canoe and crew - you will usually need to pay for them to return as well | 2
Okay thanks for the info, It won't be an issue to pay someone for a canoe, it would rather be the question if there would be sufficient time to do thinks. Thanks Laszlo and Majordom | 3
